"Real People in an Unreal Church" |
|
Matthew 9:9-13
Passing along, Jesus saw a man at his
work collecting taxes. His name was
Matthew. Jesus said, "Come along with
me." Matthew stood up and followed him.
Later when Jesus was eating
supper at Matthew's house with his close
followers, a lot of disreputable
characters came and joined them. When
the Pharisees saw him keeping this kind
of company, they had a fit, and lit into
Jesus' followers. "What kind of example
is this from your Teacher, acting cozy
with crooks and riffraff?"
Jesus, overhearing, shot back,
"Who needs a doctor: the healthy or the
sick? Go figure out what this Scripture
means: 'I'm after mercy, not religion.'
I'm here to invite outsiders, not coddle
insiders."

"Unreal Church in an Real World" |
|
Acts 2:42-47
They
devoted themselves to the apostles'
teaching and to the fellowship, to the
breaking of bread and to prayer.
43Everyone was filled with awe, and many
wonders and miraculous signs were done
by the apostles. 44All the believers
were together and had everything in
common. 45Selling their possessions and
goods, they gave to anyone as he had
need. 46Every day they continued to meet
together in the temple courts. They
broke bread in their homes and ate
together with glad and sincere hearts,
47praising God and enjoying the favor of
all the people. And the Lord added to
their number daily those who were being
saved.

"Easter Sunday" |
The
Resurrection
1When the Sabbath was over, Mary
Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and
Salome bought spices so that they might
go to anoint Jesus' body.
2Very early on the first day of
the week, just after sunrise, they were
on their way to the tomb
3and they asked each other, "Who
will roll the stone away from the
entrance of the tomb?"
4But when they looked up, they saw
that the stone, which was very large,
had been rolled away.
5As they entered the tomb, they
saw a young man dressed in a white robe
sitting on the right side, and they were
alarmed.
6"Don't be alarmed," he said. "You
are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who
was crucified. He has risen! He is not
here. See the place where they laid him.

"Crazy Love" |
|
Have you ever
wondered if we're missing it?
It's crazy if you think about it. The
God of the universe — the Creator of
nitrogen and pine needles, galaxies and
e-minor — loves us with a radical,
unconditional, self-sacrificing love.
And what is our typical response? We go
to church, sing songs, and try not to
cuss.
Does
something deep inside your heart long to
break free from the status quo? Are you
hungry for an authentic faith that
addresses the problems of our world with
tangible, even radical, solutions? God
is calling you to a passionate love
relationship with Himself. Because the
answer to religious complacency isn't
working harder at a list of do's and
don'ts — it's falling in love with God.
And once you encounter His love, you
will never be the same.

"Family
Emphasis Month - October" |
|
Family Emphasis
Month is the time of year that we place
a strong special emphasis on the lives
and roles of the family; to
illuminate the importance of each family
member's role in the family unit. We
realize the need to keep Family Emphasis
before the people because our families
today are in jeopardy. Families today
are much different than the original
family that God created, however the
Word of God still remains truth...
Educating and provoking the family unit
to fulfill their God-given
responsibilities is what Family Emphasis
is all about.

"Living
the Blessed Life" |
|
What does it mean to be blessed by God?
In Jesus’ very first sermon, he gave a
list of virtues called Beatitudes that
instruct us how in God’s Kingdom we can
be blessed. In this series we will look
at how Jesus lived these Kingdom values
out in his ministry and his teachings.

"One
Month to Live" |
|
No matter how much this idea makes you
squirm, it’s a fact. No matter who you
are, how young or old, what measure of
success you’ve attained, or where you
live, mortality remains the great
equalizer. With each tick of the
clock, a moment of your life is behind
you. Your days are numbered and
each one that passes is gone forever.
Rather than inhibiting us to play it
safe, I’m convinced that embracing
our time on earth as a limited resource
has incredible power to liberate us.
If we knew we only had “One Month to
Live”, would we live our lives
differently?

"Take a Walk with Jesus" |
|
Almost everywhere Jesus went in
life and ministry, He walked.
I know that it is pretty obvious
because there wasn’t much of a choice
2,000 years ago.
The real importance is not in how
Jesus got somewhere, but in what He did
and how He did it.
The same principle holds true for
us today, as believers, we need to grasp
the full significance and importance of
Jesus’ life and ministry.
If you know what Jesus paid for
and how He paid for it, it gives you
great hope and meaning in your life!!!

"What in the World is Going On?" |
|
All you have to do is look at the
headlines or watch the news and will
find yourself asking that question.
Just recently Israel's defense Minister,
Ehud Barak, said to a special session of
parliament: "This is an all-out war
against Hamas and its branches" as
hundreds have already died. One Russian
professor has even publicly predicted
that the US will fall in 2010. The US
as well as the entire world is in a dire
situation. |
